A further 4 skilled occupations are being added to Australia's Migration Occupations in Demand List from the 1st of November, 2005.
These occupations are as follows:
- Chemical Engineer (ASCO Code 2129-17)
- Mining Engineer ASCO Code (2127-11)
- Petroleum Engineer (ASCO Code 2127-13), and
- Dental Specialist (ASCO Code 2381-13)
By way of background, where an applicant for a skilled visa applies for a points tested skilled visa, having an occupation that is on the MODL allows one to claim further points. The usual claim is for 15 points, although 20 points can be claimed where the visa applicant has a job offer for full time employment in the nominated MODL occupation, from an employer that has employed at least 10 people on a full time basis for the 24 months immediately before the date the visa application is lodged.
